Effective October 16, 2026
Parent and Guardian Consent
Required for every participant under 18. A parent or legal guardian agrees to the following by checking the consent box on the application form and at checkout.
This consent works alongside our Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy.
Participation
I consent to my child participating in the [PROGRAM NAME] online research program, including live group video sessions, a weekly team or 1:1 meeting, optional office hours, and independent and team work of about 5–10 hours a week for 12 weeks.
Communication and safeguarding
I understand and agree that:
- Communication with my child happens only through program channels: group video sessions, the program's Slack (or similar) workspace and email.
- The mentor will not communicate privately with my child by personal phone, text or social media.
- Sessions are held in groups. If a one-on-one session is needed (for example, on the 1:1 track), it is held on video and may be recorded, or I may be informed in advance.
- I will be copied on enrollment emails and key program updates, and I can contact the mentor at any time.
- Adult participants in other teams may not contact minors outside program channels.
Recording
I consent to group sessions being recorded for review by members of my child's cohort only. Recordings are deleted within 90 days after the cohort ends.
Publication and authorship
I understand my child's research may be submitted to an academic conference or workshop and, if accepted, published publicly with my child's name as an author. Code may be released publicly if the team agrees. My child keeps ownership of their work, as described in the Terms.
Accounts and tools
I consent to my child using the tools the program needs, such as Slack, GitHub, Google Meet and cloud compute accounts, which may require my child's email address.
Name and photo use (optional)
Using my child's name, photo, quotes or project in program marketing requires my separate, opt-in permission. I can give or withdraw it at any time by email. Not opting in has no effect on participation.
Code of conduct
I have reviewed the Code of Conduct in the Terms with my child and understand that serious or repeated violations may lead to removal without a refund.
Emergencies and contact
I will provide a working email and phone number where I can be reached during the program, and I will tell the program of any changes.
How consent is given
A parent or guardian gives this consent electronically by checking the agreement box on the application form and at checkout, which has the same effect as a signature. You may also reply "I agree to the Parent Consent" to your acceptance email. Consent can be withdrawn at any time by email; withdrawal is handled under the refund policy in the Terms.
